*Update: Valley View Ave. is scheduled to be closed between Artesia Blvd. and Alondra Blvd. from 9 p.m. Thursday, October 25 until 6 a.m. Friday, October 26. As always, access to local businesses  will be allowed at all times. The contractor will be pouring concrete for the footing of the retaining walls at the intersection of Firestone Bl. and Valley View Ave. This is part of the construction of the first half of the new section of Firestone Blvd. Photo of location below:

The portion of the Valley View Ave. Bridge over I-5: Workers have been removing the lumber forms from the concrete vertical support walls. These forms will then be used to build a horizontal base for a second grid of rebar. These forms are called “lost forms”, because once the concrete has been poured over the rebar grid, the forms will be left in place, but do not provide and structural support to the bridge.  Photos below from October 16. At the Coyote Creek Bridge in La Mirada, workers are drilling and pile driving to install bridge support columns during the day. Local businesses should expect vibration and loud pounding for several weeks. Photos below from October 16:

Construction of the pier walls that will support the new bridge over Coyote Creek, east of I-5 near Trojan Way in La Mirada, is complete. The bridge will carry the new lanes of I-5 and N. Firestone Blvd. Photos below show progress from October 9 to October 16:

Construction of the abutment wall east of I-5 continues. The footing and rebar frame are complete and forms have been placed over the frame in preparation to pour concrete. Photos below show progress from October 9 to October 16:
