Valley View Ave. Interchange Project – October 30, 2020 – November 6, 2020

Construction on this project is 69% complete.

Projected dates:
The first half of Valley View Ave. Bridge opened to traffic on Monday, October 7, 2019 with one lane in each direction. A second lane opened to traffic on the southbound side of the Valley View Avenue Bridge on Friday, September 18, 2020. 

Completion of second half of Valley View Ave. Bridge: Revised to *mid-2022.
The new Valley View Ave. off ramp from southbound I-5 opened on September 19, 2020.  
N. Firestone Blvd. reverts to two lanes in each direction east of Valley View Ave.: End of 2021. 
N. Firestone Blvd. re-opens between Knott Ave. and Trojan Way: *Fall of 2020. 
New S. Firestone Blvd. running under the Valley View Ave. Bridge opened on July 13, 2020. 
I-5 Valley View Ave. Interchange projected date of completion: Revised to *mid-2022.

At 5 a.m. October 15, the Artesia Boulevard off ramp from southbound I-5 closed for approximately one year to complete the next stage of construction. This includes building a new off ramp and adding two new lanes to southbound I-5.  The new Valley View Ave. off ramp from southbound I-5 is open as one alternate. Map below: 

We will open the new S. Firestone Boulevard ramp connecting to the Valley View Avenue Bridge to bi-directional traffic *in November. Then traffic may exit I-5 south on the Valley View Avenue off ramp and make two right turns onto the S. Firestone Boulevard ramp to access businesses along S. Firestone Boulevard between Alondra Boulevard / Marquardt Avenue and Artesia Boulevard. Map below:

On the south end of the second half of the Valley View Ave. Bridge, workers are constructing rebar stem walls along the deck in preparation for the first concrete pour. Video below from October 7:

On the night of Thursday, October 1, the final layer of concrete was poured on the north end of the second half of the new bridge. Video below shows tarps covering fresh concrete while it cures, October 7:

Pre-cast concrete slabs were placed on the Coyote Creek Bridge west of I-5 in la Mirada. Concrete was then poured around the frame of the bridge. Video below from October 7:
