Valley View Ave. Interchange Project – November 15- November 22, 2019

Construction on this project is 50% complete.

Projected dates:
Completion of first half of Valley View Ave. Bridge: Open to traffic Monday, October 7, 2019.
Completion of second half of Valley View Ave. Bridge: Revised to *late 2021.
N. Firestone Blvd. reverts to two lanes in each direction at Valley View Ave.: End of 2021. 
N. Firestone Blvd. re-opens between Knott Ave. and Trojan Way: by the end of 2019. 
I-5 Valley View Ave. Interchange projected date of completion: Revised to *end of 2021.

Demolition of the second half of the old Valley View Ave. Bridge is complete. Before removal of steel girders and after, below:

The steel girders, rebar, and concrete from the demolished second half of the Valley View Ave. Bridge have been removed for recycling. A view of the remaining first half of the bridge and the work area where the second half is under construction below, from November 11:

 

The contractor is constructing the foundation for abutment walls to support the second half of the Valley View Ave. Bridge west of I-5 in La Mirada. Videos below from November 5 and November 11:

The contractor is removing the falsework (temporary frame support) from the completed first half of the Valley View Ave. Bridge. Video below from November 11:

We opened a new FOURTH freeway lane to traffic on northbound I-5 from Alondra Blvd. to the Orr & Day railroad overhead north of Imperial Highway. At that point, it narrows back down to three lanes. After completion of the Florence Ave. interchange, the northbound fourth lane will extend almost to to I-605. We also opened a fourth lane on southbound I-5 from north of Imperial Highway all the way to the Orange County line near Artesia Blvd. Map below:
