Valley View Ave. Interchange Project – March 15 – March 22, 2019

Construction on this project is 38% complete.

Projected dates:
Completion of first half of Valley View Ave. Bridge: Revised to *late 2019.
Completion of second half of Valley View Ave. Bridge: Revised to *late 2021.
Firestone Blvd. reverts to two lanes in each direction at Valley View Ave.: End of 2021. 
I-5 Valley View Ave. Interchange project open to traffic: Revised to *End of 2021.

Workers are constructing the falsework (temporary frame support) and the “soffit” (underside) of the third (middle) section of the first half of the new Valley View Ave. Bridge just west of I-5 in Santa Fe Springs.

In less than one week, the contractor constructed the falsework (frame support) and placed the steel beams of the deck for this open section of the bridge. Photos below from March 5 and March 12:

Crews are also constructing the “stem walls” on the edge of the bridge deck. Photos below from March 12:

 

Grading and compacting continue below the Valley View Ave. Bridge. Photos below from March 12:

 

The contractor is installing drainage on the north end of the bridge near Alondra Blvd. Photos below from March 12: 

 

At the Coyote Creek Bridge in La Mirada, construction of the bridge progresses. The first layer of pre-cast concrete was installed several weeks ago. Concrete for the slab next to the bridge was poured last week. This week crews completed installation of a rebar frame and poured the final layer of concrete on the bridge o March 14.
