Valley View Ave. Interchange Project – March 5, 2021 – March 12, 2021

Construction on this project is 75% complete.

Projected dates:
The first half of Valley View Ave. Bridge opened to traffic on Monday, October 7, 2019 with one lane in each direction. A second lane opened to traffic on the southbound side of the Valley View Avenue Bridge on Friday, September 18, 2020. 

Completion of second half of Valley View Ave. Bridge: Revised to *mid-2022.
The new Valley View Ave. off ramp from southbound I-5 opened on September 19, 2020.  
N. Firestone Blvd. reverts to two lanes in each direction east of Valley View Ave.: End of 2021. 
N. Firestone Blvd. re-opened between Knott Ave. and Trojan Way on February 28, 2021.  
New S. Firestone Blvd. running under the Valley View Ave. Bridge opened on July 13, 2020. 
New S. Firestone connector ramp to the Valley View Ave. Bridge opened on February 28. 2021. 
I-5 Valley View Ave. Interchange projected date of completion: Revised to *mid-2022.

Crews continue to pour new concrete lanes for I-5 at the Valley View Avenue interchange project. Aerial photos below:

Workers continued to secure lumber forms over rebar stem walls on the bridge. Photos below from March 2 and March 4:

1. The new S. Firestone connector ramp to the Valley View Ave. Bridge is now open to traffic. There is a stop sign at the intersection with the Valley View Avenue Bridge. This will allow traffic to connect from Alondra Boulevard / Marquardt Avenue directly to Valley View Avenue. This will also allow traffic to exit southbound I-5 at the Valley View Avenue off ramp; turn right onto Valley View Avenue; and turn right again onto S. Firestone Boulevard to access businesses between Marquardt Avenue and Artesia  Boulevard.  Photos below:

 

2.  The new N. Firestone Boulevard is now open to traffic between Knott Avenue and Trojan Way. There is a stop sign southbound on Knott Avenue at N. Firestone Boulevard. Photos showing traffic using S. Firestone Blvd. and map below:

 

3. There is now a second lane open to traffic on northbound Valley View Avenue between N. Firestone Boulevard and Alondra Boulevard. Intersection traffic is controlled by permanent signals. Photo and map below:




In February and the first week of March workers constructed rebar frames for stem walls and covered them with wooden forms in advance of pouring concrete along the deck of the middle section of the second half of the Valley View Avenue Bridge. Video and photos below from February 24:
