Valley View Ave. Interchange Project – July 10, 2020 – July 17, 2020

Construction on this project is 61% complete.

Projected dates:
Completion of first half of Valley View Ave. Bridge: Opened to traffic Monday, October 7, 2019. A second southbound lane will open in *the summer of 2020. 
Completion of second half of Valley View Ave. Bridge: Revised to *mid-2022.
Target date to open the new Valley View Ave. off ramp from southbound I-5 is *revised to end of July 2020 due to extensive rain delays. 
N. Firestone Blvd. reverts to two lanes in each direction east of Valley View Ave.: End of 2021. 
N. Firestone Blvd. re-opens between Knott Ave. and Trojan Way: *summer of 2020. 
New S. Firestone Blvd. running under the Valley View Ave. Bridge opens *July 13, 2020. 
I-5 Valley View Ave. Interchange projected date of completion: Revised to *mid-2022.

The new S. Firestone Boulevard is scheduled to open at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, July 13! This will permit through traffic in both directions all the way between Artesia Boulevard and Alondra Boulevard (via Marquardt Avenue) underneath the Valley View Avenue Bridge. Please note the on ramp to southbound I-5 from S. Firestone Boulevard remains CLOSED. Photos & map below: 

Workers continue construction of the bridge soffit (deck underside) of the next section of the second half of the bridge. The contractor is also constructing support columns for the new Valley View Ave. on ramp to southbound I-5 and the S. Firestone Blvd. off ramp from the bridge and constructing a pedestrian crosswalk on the first half of the bridge.

The contractor is also excavating at the north end of the bridge and placing steel beams to complete the falsework and soffit construction at the north end of the second half of the bridge. Photos and video below from June 9:
