Valley View Ave. Interchange Project – December 7 – December 14, 2018

Construction on this project is 36% complete.

Projected dates:
Completion of first half of Valley View Ave. Bridge: Revised to *late 2019.
Completion of second half of Valley View Ave. Bridge: Revised to *late 2021.
Completion of entire I-5 Valley View Ave. Interchange project: Revised to *late 2021.

Scheduled road closures for next week:
1. S. Firestone Blvd. is scheduled to be closed from 9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13 until 6 a.m. Friday, Dec. 14 to stripe and to switch traffic. When S. Firestone Blvd. re-opens, traffic will utilize the new detour.

Grading and compacting are complete for the section of ground that will support the third (middle) section of the first half the Valley View Ave. Bridge. Workers have been delivering supplies to assemble falsework (temporary structure support). Photos below from December 4:



Construction of retaining walls for the new southbound Firestone Blvd. where it will connect to Valley View Ave. in La Mirada continues. Concrete forms are placed over rebar frame in preparation for concrete pour. Photos below from November 13 , 20 and 27:


At the Coyote Creek Bridge in La Mirada, the concrete abutment walls are complete. Photos below from November 13, November 27, and December 4 show the progress:


Construction of the pier walls that will support the new bridge over Coyote Creek, east of I-5 near Trojan Way in La Mirada, is complete. The bridge will carry the new lanes of I-5 and N. Firestone Blvd.  Photos below:


Grading and curb installation is complete for a temporary detour to Firestone Blvd. near the Valley View Ave. Bridge west of I-5. Grading and compacting continue where the Valley View Ave. off ramp from southbound I-5 and the southbound Firestone Blvd. ramp will connect to the bridge. Photos below from November 27:


The final layer of concrete has been poured on the surface of the Valley View Ave. Bridge over Arbor Place and west of I-5 in Cerritos. Photos below from October 2:
