Utility Work in Downtown Burbank

What: Crews are scheduled to install an underground conduit system for AT&T beginning in August 2017. This work is needed in advance of the reconstruction of Burbank Boulevard Bridge at I-­‐5.

Where: Work will occur on 3rd Street between Palm Avenue and East Orange Grove Avenue and on Orange Grove Avenue between 3rd Street and I-­‐5.

Closures: Directional signage will be used to direct vehicles and pedestrians around the work zone.

  •  All streets will remain open to traffic during the work, some lanes may be shifted to one side of the road.
  • Local access to businesses and residences will be maintained at all times.
  • Parking lanes will be closed on Orange Grove during work hours.
  • Access to the Orange Grove Public Parking structure will be impacted.

When: Work will begin in early August 2017 and continue for approximately four months. Work hours are from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays.

What to Expect: Crews will perform sawcutting, excavation, conduit installation, backfilling and street restoration. Some heavy equipment will be used including excavators/backhoes, jackhammers, front-­‐end loaders and trucks.

The Empire Project is a series of improvements to I-­5 in Burbank between Magnolia Boulevard and Buena Vista Street, including carpool lanes, elevated railroad tracks, reconfigured ramps, a new interchange at Empire Avenue, widening of the Burbank Boulevard Bridge, and more.
