On Monday, Jan. 8 crews opened the newly reconstructed northbound I-5 on- and off-ramp at Rosecrans Avenue and on Wednesday, Jan. 10 crews opened the Bloomfield Avenue undercrossing, allowing traffic to pass underneath the I-5 freeway. These major milestones mark a significant step toward completion of the Rosecrans Avenue & Bloomfield Avenue bridge project. All major construction activity has been completed. The work that remains over the next few weeks will include landscaping, electrical work, striping and other finishing work.
Next week crews will close the southbound I-5 off-ramp at Rosecrans Avenue from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 16 and Wednesday, Jan. 17. In addition, northbound I-5 off-ramp at Rosecrans Avenue will be closed from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 16. Finally on Wednesday night, Jan 17 and Thursday night, Jan. 18, crews will reduce lanes on northbound and southbound I-5 at night from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m., between Carmenita Road and Norwalk Boulevard; at least one lane will remain open at all times.
In addition, on Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 10 crews will open Bloomfield Avenue to through traffic underneath I-5. This marks a major milestone toward completion of the project. While intermittent closures may be needed in the coming weeks, crews are on their way to completing the project soon.
