Construction on this project is 78% complete.
On the northbound I-5, the right lane will be closed overnight from Norwalk Boulevard to Pioneer Boulevard to allow delivery of grade (gravel) for three weeks per the following schedule:
From 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night:
Tuesday, Feb. 20 through the night of Thursday, Feb. 22.
Sunday, Feb. 25 through the night of Thursday, March 1.
Sunday, March 4 through the night of Thursday, March 8.
These lane closures are scheduled for separate nights and the lane will re-open by 5 a.m. each morning.
If a northbound full freeway closure between Norwalk Blvd. and I-605 for the I-5 Florence interchange project is implemented on any night at 11:59 p.m., this lane closure will become part of the full freeway closure.
Crews construct “approach slab” which will provide additional support for vehicles where the future northbound lanes of I-5 meet the Pioneer Boulevard Bridge (below):

Grading and compacting of future lanes of northbound I-5 along the Imperial Highway on ramp and approaching the Pioneer Boulevard Bridge is mostly complete (below). This week trucks will deliver tens of thousands of tons of base, or gravel, that will provide the base for two separate layers of concrete when paving the new freeway lanes. Laying of base will last for two to three weeks.

Contractors commenced construction of a retaining wall and sound wall along I-5 between the interstate and Mondon Avenue in the City of Norwalk (below). Construction will take place between Tina St. and Gem St. It will occur primarily Monday through Friday during the hours of 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. and is expected to continue through mid-May. We will update this web page if any nighttime work is required.
There are no planned lane closures on Mondon Avenue, but construction equipment may occasionally need to block the roadway. If so, traffic will be temporarily controlled with flagging. There will be construction noise from equipment.
Flyers were distributed to all homes along the designated construction portion of Mondon Avenue and the corresponding cul de sacs (below):
Curb work continues on Pioneer Boulevard. Next week crews will pour the soffit of the Imperial Highway Bridge and construction of barrier rail along the mainlines will continue.
As crews work on Imperial Highway, Norwalk Boulevard and Pioneer Boulevard bridges at I-5, one lane in each direction may be closed on each street (at I-5) during the daytime, between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
