Imperial Highway & Pioneer Blvd. Project – December 7 – December 14, 2018

Construction on this project is 87% complete.

*Update: Norwalk Blvd. / San Antonio Dr. is scheduled to be closed in both directions between Civic Center Dr. and the Frontage Road just southwest of I-5 (at the United Methodist Church) for asphalt paving at the following times:

7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13 until 6 a.m. Fri., Dec. 14

Access to Civic Center Dr. will remain OPEN at Norwalk Blvd. at the north end of the closure.
The San Antonio Dr. on ramp to southbound I-5 will be closed.
The Norwalk Blvd. off ramp from northbound I-5 will be closed.

I-5 is tentatively scheduled to be closed in both directions from Artesia Bl. to Valley View Ave. overnight Tuesday, Dec. 18 to allow construction of falsework for the next section of bridge.

Beginning Monday, Dec. 10, the sidewalk on the northbound side of Pioneer Blvd. north of Imperial Highway will be closed until late December to allow tile work on the wall of the bridge. Pedestrians will be directed to use the sidewalk on the southbound side of Pioneer Blvd.

 

Workers have nearly completed construction of the sound wall north of Imperial Highway. Photos below from December 11:

 

We are also reconstructing the median and adding lanes to Norwalk Blvd. north of the San Antonio Bridge. Photos below from October 30,  November 27 and December 13:

 

Construction of  the median barrier rail along new lanes of I-5 between Norwalk Blvd. and Imperial Highway is complete.  Crews are now constructing barrier rail north of Imperial Highway. Photos below from November 20 and December 11:

 

As crews work on Imperial Highway, Norwalk Boulevard and Pioneer Boulevard bridges at I-5, one lane in each direction may be closed on each street (at I-5) during the daytime, between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
