I-5 Corridor Improvements – SR-134 to Buena Vista Street, February 18-26, 2016

Construction activities and closures listed below are subject to change. Work will occur during daytime hours unless otherwise noted.

Illegal dumping is a crime. Violators will be prosecuted. If you notice illegal dumping at a construction site, get the license plate number and call 911.

➤ CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES for February 18-26, 2016

SR-134 to Magnolia Boulevard

Bridge Construction: Work on Sonora Avenue, Alameda Avenue and Western Avenue Bridges. Placement of mulching materials on slopes.

Magnolia Boulevard to Buena Vista Street

Buena Vista Street Bridge (Winona Bridge): Form deck for southbound I-5 widening.

Buena Vista Street Railroad Bridge: Form and pour median pier footings and abutments (supporting structures at the ends of the bridge span).

Buena Vista Street Ramps: Form and pave shoulder.

Empire Avenue: Form and pour underpass abutment walls. Retaining wall and drainage work.  

Railroad Retaining Wall: Installation of precast wall panels between Hollywood Way and Burbank Boulevard. Installation of overhang for construction of the top of the wall.

Victory Place: Forming of abutments for the bridge and walls.

Old San Fernando Road Tunnel: Concrete crushing and storm drain work. Importing material (night work).

Front Street at Magnolia Boulevard: Unloading and stacking steel beams.

Utility Work: Installation of conduit on Victory Place between Empire Avenue and Maria Street. Flaggers will direct motorists.

➤ CLOSURES for February 18-26, 2016

SR-134 to Magnolia Boulevard

+ The Los Angeles River Bike Path between Riverside Drive and just south of the SR-134 overcrossing in the City of Los Angeles will be closed through spring 2016. A signed detour is posted that directs bike path users to Zoo Drive and Western Heritage Way. See map here.

Magnolia Boulevard to Buena Vista Street

+ Night closures of southbound I-5 Burbank Boulevard off-ramp, 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.

+ Buena Vista Street closures between Winona Avenue and San Fernando Boulevard:

  • Day closures: Intermittent lane closures in both directions from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The street will remain open to motorists.
  • Night closures: Intermittent full street closures in both directions from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Detours will be posted.
